Zion National Park - August 2012

We spent 4 nights (Aug 30-Sep 3) at Zion National Park in Utah. We stayed in Watchman Campground - Site B20. It was a pretty good spot with lots of privacy - and electric hookups.  The National Park Service is installing all new bathrooms at the campground, so that will be pretty nice. This is one busy park. Lots of people from all over the world enjoying their vacations. We noticed that about half of the RVs were rental units. We got to talk to a nice German family that was just leaving. They were having a great time, but complained it was awfully hot. The daytime temps were in the high 80s and low 90s. Nighttime temps were only in the mid 60s. Still, this was a relief for us. We rode our bicycyles into the town of Springdale several times. One day we had breakfast at Oscars, and another day we had a drink at the Bit & Spur Saloon. The highligt of the trip was our hike through the Narrows. It's a narrow canyon that has steep rock walls on either side. The canyon floor was formed by the Virgin River, which flows from Navajo Lake and ends up in the Colorado River and Lake Mead. To hike the river trail, we tried to stay on the shore line, but about 50% of the time we were traversing from one shoreline to the other. The deepest spots that we had to cross were only about mid-thigh high, but it was quite refreshingly cool.

This is a photo of one of my favorite wives - haha
Nowhere but Utah would this make sense.

So much fun! The photos are great and bring back so many fond memories of camping in Zion with Linda before our "married" days. :-) Not sure, but that Oscar place looks like the place we hiked/(stumbled) up to from the camp ground looking to buy more wine. hee hee. :-) Glad you guys had fun.
