Scout Mountain - Pocatello, Idaho Aug 18-25, 2013

Scout Mountain is a small campground located in the mountains near Pocatello at about 6,900 feet elevation.  The sites are large with plenty of privacy.  The daytime temps were in the low to mid 80s, and overnight lows in the mid 60s.  There are mostly pine trees and some aspen here.  We did some hiking most every day.  One day, we drove in to Pocatello, and took a side trip to Lava Hot Springs.  Our RV parts (to repair the tire damage) never showed up while we were in Provo...so I re-ordered them from a dealer in Idaho Falls.  Hopefully, they will arrive in time.  While we were here at Scout Mountain, we met the camp hosts Jerry and Joyce.  They are really nice people, and we enjoyed spending time with them.  Our next stop will be Calamity, Idaho.

Ahhh........... Lava Hot Springs! Brings back memories from when I was a youngster. We built a project there and hung out at the hot tubs and at Burks Bigger Burger joint! Is it still there? In the winter it was legal to ride your Snowmobiles on the city streets! Good times! Doug
