Chula Vista Elks Lodge - March 10-20, 2014

This was our first trip to the Chula Vista Elks Lodge near San Diego.  It's actually a very nice area.  The lodge has 27 sites with full hookups.  The only problem is that they have very low AC voltage in the higher number sites.  We were in site #26, so we were nervous about running any appliances with electric motors.  When we tried to run the microwave oven, the voltage dropped to about 102 VAC...yikes!!  Aside from that, it's a nice lodge.  They have several quaint outdoor areas.  One of the areas is called the pavillion.  They have a barbecue grill, TV, tables and chairs...and even a bar area.  It's all free to use for the members.  There is also a firepit area with seating, and a nice picnic area.
We met a group of RVers from the Hemet, CA area.  They were about a dozen of the nicest people.  They were nice enough to invite us for cocktails on several occasions.  And Joe made some very tasty Corn Beef and Cabbage on St Patricks's Day.  It was delicious!!
We visited several Farmer's Markets in the San Diego area.  The Little Italy Farmer's Market and the Hillcrest Farmer's Market.  Both were really nice.  We spent one whole day visiting the Museums and beautiful grounds of Balboa Park.  Another day we spent shopping at Solana Beach and Coronado Island.  On the way back to Arizona, we visited our friends Doug & Michelle in Daggett, CA.

Linda found some pretty flowers at the Farmers Market

Being with Family in Arizona

We spent much of February and March in Mohave Valley, Arizona.  Linda's Dad was sick for some time, and peacefully passed away on Feb 26th.  He had a beautiful funeral with lots of friends and family.  Linda's Mom is doing pretty good.  She misses Pat, but she is a strong person, and will get along.  I'm so glad we were able to be with her during this difficult time.  While we've been back in the Desert Southwest, we were also able to see my Mom and Dad on several occasions, and our family members in the Las Vegas/Pahrump area.  We are taking a little side-trip to the San Diego area for a week or so...Then, we will return to say Goodbye to everyone, as we will be making our way to Colorado for our summer Camp Hosting Volunteer gig.
