Imperial Beach, CA

It's hard to believe our time here at Imperial Beach is half over. We're staying at Bernardo Shores RV Park.  Imperial Beach is the most southwesterly town in the USA.  It's only 5 miles from downtown Tijuana.  We like this park because of it's proximity to Coronado, easy access to mass transit, and only 6 blocks from the beach.  The RV park is actually bordering on the San Diego National Wildlife Refuge where there are many species of migrating birds to see.  Back in the 1950s part of the refuge was used for salt ponds (to extract salt for commercial use).  But it has since been restored to it's natural state.

This sculpture at the entrance to the Imperial Beach pier has been nicknamed "Surfhenge".

An early morning walk along the Bayshore Bikeway (Silver Strand Bikeway).

What trip to San Diego would be complete without a visit to the Hotel Del Coronado

Remember the Marilyn Monroe movie "Some Like it Hot"?

We explored the Farmers Market in "Little Italy"

A great hike at Torrey Pines State Reserve
