Palm Springs - Jan 20-23, 2015

We stayed at the Indio Elks Lodge RV Park.  Indio is about 30 miles from Palm Springs, so it was a good location to explore the area.  Palm Springs and the surrounding communities are all quite beautiful.  Some of the other areas like Salton Sea and Slab City stand in sharp contrast to Palm Springs.

Palm Springs Aerial Tramway.  The Tram Cars are 18 feet in diameter and hold up to 80 passengers.  The floor also makes two complete rotations on the 2+ mile journey up the mountain.

We had a great visit with my Uncle Lee and Aunt Phyllis.  They are staying in Cathedral City for the winter, and will return to Michigan in the summer.  It was so nice to see them again.

This is a shrine at the entrance to Slab City.  The guy that built it  calls it Salvation Mountain.

Inside Salvation Mountain, he created numerous rooms with very unusual decor

The Salton Sea.  It's about 35 miles long by 15 miles wide.  Back in the 50s and 60s it was quite popular with Boaters and Campers.   But now, the water has become too salty...causing large algae blooms and increased bacteria.

Quartzsite Boondocking - Jan 17-20, 2015

We spent several days in Quartzsite during the Annual RV Show.  The town was really alive with RVers from all over.  It's a place you have to visit to experience what it's all about.  We boondocked at the Hi Jolly BLM area with several hundred of our closest friends...  While in town we met up with our friends Doug and Michelle and had a great time at Silly Al's Pizza Place.  We also had a chance for a quick visit with Alice Borghoff as she was passing through on her way to Prescott.

Back in Vegas for the Holidays - Dec 15 thru Jan 17, 2015

We spent a month at the Elks Lodge RV Park in Boulder City.  It was nice spending the holiday season with friends and family.  We stayed quite busy while we were in the area.  Too much to do...and not enough time to do it.  I guess that's the way holidays are.  We sure had fun!
