Napa Balloon Ride - Mar 25, 2015

While staying in Napa, we booked a Balloon Ride for Sunday morning.  Unfortunately, it was cancelled due to weather, so we rescheduled for Wednesday.  We were fortunate to have nearly perfect weather for the flight.  It was a great experience.  It's nearly impossible to get air sickness, as you are literally floating with the breeze.  The only real control is to go up or down, relying on the varying wind currents at different heights.  We ascended to a height of about 2,500 feet, and at times we were traveling at over 25 mph.  The strange thing is...it felt as if we weren't moving at all.  A really unique experience.

Napa, CA - Mar 20-25, 2015

Even with every other State in America now making wines, Napa still has some of the most beautiful vineyards.  However, they only produce about 4% of the State's wine.  Even if you don't drink wine, it's a beautiful area to visit.

Walking Path along the Napa River.  We walked this path every morning.  It's right in back of the Napa Elks Lodge.

Taking a little rest in between our shopping and walking.

Downtown Napa - along the River Front.

Castello di Amorosa - Winery and Vineyards
The castle has 107 rooms on 8 levels, with 4 above and 4 below ground.  It was built using 12th century techniques.  Includes a moat, drawbridge, 5 towers with battlements, chapel, and yes...even a torture chamber!

Morro Bay, CA - Mar 15-20, 2015

We spent 5 days in Morro Bay with Linda's Mom and Ron.  We stayed busy exploring the town and nearby sights.  We also enjoyed some of the local food in town.  They stayed at the Ascot Suites, and we stayed at Morro Strand RV Park.  It was a really nice week, and the weather was beautiful.

San Luis Obispo, CA - Mar 10-15, 2015

Saint Louis the Bishop...aka San Luis Obispo is a great California town.  I can easily see why it was voted  "The Happiest Place in America".  In my opinion, it beats Disneyland, hands down.  The only downside is that it's in California - too many taxes and too expensive to live, but a great place to visit.
We stayed at the Elks Lodge RV Park.  The lodge is only a little over a mile from the quaint downtown shopping district.  We walked into town every day.  Lots of great food and sights.

Thursday Night Farmer's Market

San Luis Obispo Mission and Museum

We hiked down the Bluff Trail at Monana de Oro State Park to visit the Tide Pools.

The tides go out twice a day, and at low tide we saw turban snails, hermit crabs, sponges and these green anemones

Lompoc, CA Mar 5-10, 2015

Lompoc (pronounced lom-poke) - It's the City of Arts and Flowers.  Well, this time of year...not so many flowers, but there is Art.  The Art is in the form of Murals on the buildings.  Regarding the flowers, it has been dubbed the flower seed capital of the world.

Lots of rolling hills with plenty of Green

Santa Barbara, CA - Feb 27 - Mar 5, 2015

We always love visiting Santa Barbara, California.  We stayed at the Santa Barbara Elks Lodge.  They have about 16 sites with Water and Electric.  It's a nice location surrounded by beautiful neighborhoods.  It makes our morning walks very enjoyable.

Downtown Santa Barbara.

The pier at Stearns Wharf

I love this Cioppino on the pier.  It's a sourdough breadbowl with crab claws, clams, shrimp, scallops and mussels...in a delicious homemade tomato broth...yummy.

Working off a few calories after the delicious food.
