Pahrump, NV - Nov 25-30, 2016

We went to Pahrump the day after Thanksgiving and stayed at Tom & Debbie's for several days and celebrated Thanksgiving with Linda's sisters and their families.  More great food, a campfire and a lot of catching up with the family.  After that, we stayed at Lakeside RV Resort for 3 nights.  They had a special going on...stay 1 night, and get 2 free!  That's less than $11 a day!!

Lakeside RV Resort is a great place to stay in Pahrump.  They have a beautiful man-made lake with a walking path around it...and lots of trees!
Every site has full hookups and most have nice views

Tom offered a great haircut for both Linda and me.  And Debbie even pampered Linda with a manicure....Just like a day at the spa!!

Lake Mead - Boulder Beach - NV Nov 22-25, 2016

After leaving Arizona, we headed for Lake Mead - Boulder Beach Campground, where we boondocked for several days.  It was a good chance to fire up the generator again.  While there, our grandson Myles stayed with us for 2 nights.  He is a happy guy and a lot of fun to be around.  We celebrated Thanksgiving at Brian and Terri's house again this year.  So much good food and conversation!  We really have a lot to be thankful for!

Myles, Me and Linda went on a bike ride from the campground down to the beach.  Since the Lake Mead water level has dropped so much, it was a long ride back up the hill!

Myles is already 5-1/2 years old and fun to hang out with!

Brian, Terri and their growing family

Our campsite #54 was pretty nice...with a great view of the lake from the window!

Northern Arizona - Nov 18-22, 2016

It's nice being back in NW Arizona to see our parents.  We spent 2 days at Linda's Mom's...and 2 days at my Mom & Dad's...Lots of time for playing cards, eating good food...and lots of good conversation!
We stayed here for 2 nights at the Avi the Dry Camping area.  Not bad for free!

Linda, Ron and Mom waiting for our breakfast at the Avi.  We had a great time seeing them...and their beautiful new home in Fort Mohave.

We stayed 2 nights here at Zuni Village RV Park in Kingman.  It's a nice place that also accepts Passport America - so it's half the normal rate!

Me and Mom & Dad - It's always great getting back together to visit.

Prescott, Arizona - Nov 4-18, 2016

We've had a fun stay in Prescott.  My brother and his wife were in town for a few days, and it was great seeing them again.  Our other friends - Doug and Michelle were also staying in Prescott, and we always have fun when they are around.

Brian, Terri, Linda and Myself spent some time in Jerome, AZ.  Jerome is a small mining town that was once home to about 10,000 people...but now is home to thousands of visitors.  It still maintains it's rustic charm and character of the old days.

The four of us went on a great little hike at Lynx Lake.  It's a great trail that winds it's way around the lake...and surrounded by lots of Ponderosa and Juniper trees

Downtown Prescott has Courthouse Square surrounded by gift shops, bars and restaurants.  It's a great place to walk and see the sights.

Linda and I hiked around the beautiful Watson Lake

The blue water of Watson Lake has a gorgeous contrast with the huge granite boulders

Thanks to my brother Brian, we found this great little pub.  It's called "Far From Folsom".  Doug and Michelle went with us on Election Night where everyone voted for 'Willie Nelson for President'.  I guess we got the next best thing...
Enjoying Dinner and Cocktails with Doug & Michelle!!

Our friends from Maine - Bob & Judy invited us to their place in Gold Canyon, AZ.  They are spending the Winter at a really beautiful RV Resort...full of non-stop activities. Lots of Fun!!

Santa Fe, NM - Oct 31-Nov 4, 2016

We stayed at the Santa Fe Elks Lodge.  While they provided us with a great camping spot, the lodge had no hookups, so we boondocked for a few days.  We fired up the generator, and everything worked out OK.

We explored this area called Kasha-Katuwe Tent Rocks National Monument.

It's amazing to see the Ponderosa Pines growing among the towering cliffs

The trail winds through the narrow canyon walls.  That's why they call it the Slot Canyon Trail

We made it to the top!!

These Native Americans are selling jewelry and crafts at the "Palace of the Governors" in historic Santa Fe.  The adobe building was built in 1610, and it's the oldest, continuously occupied public building in the U.S.

The Cathedral Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi stands at the end of the street in downtown Santa Fe

Boondocking at the Elks Lodge

We had to stop in Winslow...just to stand on the corner for a moment.

Colorado Springs, CO Oct 26-31, 2016

We've been to Colorado Springs before, but this time we were able to see more areas of the city, and we think it's a pretty nice place.  We stayed at the Elks Lodge on the north side of town.

This is part of the 22nd Annual Emma Crawford Coffin Races in Manitou Springs

Thousands of people come to watch the parade and coffin races

All sorts of unusual costumes and hearses were part of the parade

Teams of four mourners and "Emma" in the coffin race down Main Street

They even had a number of Presidential Pallbearers in the event

We spent an afternoon in downtown Colorado Springs enjoying some good food

We even had time for a hike at Palmer Park on the edge of town

Boulder, Colorado Oct 19-26, 2016

We really like Boulder, Colorado.  Being a college town, it brings in a diverse group of people...We're no longer the young ones...We decided to say longer than we originally intended, so it was nice to relax from all the driving.

Our daily walks took us through some beautiful neighborhoods.  Many of the homes are more like mini-mansions.

We stayed here at the Boulder Elks Lodge.

Most of the time, we had the entire RV parking area to ourselves

They were having a Zombie-Walk in downtown Fort Collins.  It was kind of fun seeing all the different folks with their makeup.  It's always fun walking around the town.

Boulder, Colorado is the home of the Celestial Seasonings Tea Company.  On the tour we got to taste many of the flavors and see how the factory processes and packages the many different varieties.  When they took us in the Mint room, the aroma was overwhelming!

The Pearl Street Mall is always a favorite place to spend an afternoon.   All the unique boutiques and eateries are fun.

Estes Park, Colorado - Oct 16-19, 2016

We were so glad that we could visit old friends from Hermit Park - where we worked in the summer of 2014.  It was really great of Ranger Vic to offer us a camp host site to park our rig while we visited with everyone.  We sure miss everyone...

It was a great feeling when we pulled into Hermit Park again.  We were very fortunate to be camp hosts here back in 2014.  It's a special place

Diana & Linda worked together in the Park Office and became great friends.  We all had a lot of catching up.  They could have talked all day, but we had to make our way to our next destination.

Diana and Jerry invited us over for Dinner and Drinks.  They have a lovely home that is situated in the mountains with a spectacular view.

Roger and Selma invited us out to dinner at Hunter's Chop House.  They are still camp hosting at Hermit...and the park looks great!  It was great to see them again, and they are still looking happy and healthy!

We even got a light dusting of snow here at Hermit Park!

Custer, SD and the Black Hills - Oct 11-16, 2016

We stayed at Custer State Park in the Legion Lake Campground Loop.  In my opinion, Custer State Park rivals many National Parks.  They have 3 different lodges, several lakes, miles of hiking and a variety of wildlife.

Linda and I enjoyed an early morning hike around Legion Lake

Mt Rushmore is every bit as impressive as I remember when I was just a kid.  It's an amazing work of art and a real tribute to America

Linda got this photo from a slightly different angle.
It's a good thing we didn't try to bring the RV through here.  That would have given the Fifth Wheel a whole new look!

We took a day trip to Deadwood, SD.  This was a real bustling town back during the gold rush!

Wild Bill Hickock re-enacting that fateful card game that ended his life.  We saw this at the No.10 Saloon

The Knuckle Saloon is in Sturgis, SD...a short drive from Deadwood.  It wasn't very busy this time of year, but I'm sure during the Motorcycle's totally different.
